Herrin High School has always endeavored to truly meet the definition of a “comprehensive secondary school.” Every effort has been made to develop a curriculum which provides course work relevant to every student’s aspirations.

The high school offers a broad spectrum of classes in the area which has come to be called college preparation. These classes cover a wide variety of academic areas and are offered at a number of levels from fundamental concepts to highly advanced. The vocational program is also very extensive. Again, classes are available in a variety of areas and at a number of levels. Comprehensive enrichment programs include the arts, music and physical education as part of the high school’s curriculum.

The extracurricular program at the high school includes a wide variety of athletic opportunities for both boys and girls; an annual theater production including both drama and music; a vibrant publication segment involving newspaper and yearbook; very active student council and honor society; and a broad spectrum of clubs.

Herrin High School can, and will provide training and exposure for every student in the academic pursuit he/she desires or needs to help fulfill his/her goals for the future. This is the reason for our existence.
