Herrin Middle School

Herrin Middle School is committed to helping students meet the challenges of the 21st century. A middle school format for grades 6, 7 and 8 emphasizes a curriculum based on the education needs and characteristics of early adolescents. Students are taught by interdisciplinary teams of teachers who meet daily to plan instruction. A teacher-based advisory program and a variety of exploratory programs allow students to develop social skills and to investigate several subjects such as current events, fine arts, art, band, chorus, Spanish and computers.

Interscholastic sports offered to middle school students include boys’ and girls’ basketball, softball and track. Additional extracurricular clubs and teams allow students to experience academic competitions, student government and student publications.
