Southern Illinois Healthcare is a not for profit healthcare system dedicated
to promoting the health and well being of all of the people in rural
down state communities. Nearly 2200 employees, along with physicians
and volunteers, work together to help meet healthcare needs by treating
patients
in the SIH facilities, offering services in rural clinics, and improving
the quality of life with their community benefit programs.
Early in the decade, Southern Illinois Healthcare consisted of 2 hospitals.
The system has since grown to include several other hospitals and an
ambulatory care center, including: Herrin Hospital, Memorial
Hospital of Carbondale, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, and Miner’s Memorial
Health Center. Additional services offered within the system include
a partnership with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and a joint
venture with Prairie Heart Institute at St. John’s Hospital of
Springfield Illinois.
