Herrin Hospital

Herrin Hospital is a 102-bed acute care facility that has served Herrin and its surrounding communities since 1913. A service of Southern Illinois Healthcare, the hospital is home to 135 doctors and 38 specialists. It has a 13-bed skilled care unit, a modern intensive care unit and up-to-date surgical suites. The hospital is known for its orthopedic surgery as well as high quality cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation services through an affiliation with Prairie Heart Institute, one of the premier heart centers in Illinois. It is also home to the acclaimed Acute Rehabilitation Center, a partnership program with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, recognized as the top rehabilitation hospital in America.

Herrin Hospital is constantly adding services and making facility improvements. It completely renovated the emergency department with a new “Fast Track” service that helps patients spend less time waiting and more time seeing a doctor. Radiology has improved imaging services with the introduction of PET (Positron Emission Tomography) for cancer diagnosis and MRI scanning for high-resolution pictures of bones and organs. Herrin Hospital also has plans for a dramatic expansion, allowing for more programs to be offered in a more spacious and accessible environment. This expansion is slated for completion by 2005.
