Herrin is located adjacent to the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge and is
surrounded by some of the finest fishing and hunting available in the nation.
Just south of Herrin and Highway 13. National Wildlife Refuge,
winter home for thousands of Canadian Geese. Picnic, boat launching, swimming
and camping areas. No horsepower limit on boat motors. For information or reservations

South of Crab Orchard Lake. It is the site of eight camps
(Boy/Girl Scouts, Churches and SIU Touch of Nature). Public boat dock and camping.

15 miles north of Herrin . Golf course, hunting, fishing, and boating
(no horsepower limit). A restaurant is located in the main building. 629-2211
(South of Marion) This park is packed with fascinating plants and
geologic formations of the scenic Shawnee Hills. Trails wind past some of the
park's most interesting features, including an intermittent waterfall and the
largest shelter bluff in Southern Illinois. (618) 995-2411
(Southwest of Crab Orchard Wildlife Refuge) This park
tells a geologic tale 315 million years old. Pennsylvanian bedrock called Pounds
sandstone is
the basis for the park's unusual rock formations. Early settlers said the rocks
